Admissions/Insurance Clerk

Position Purpose

The Admissions/Insurance Clerk performs and provides administrative support services for the Admission Process. He/She contacts patients and patient family members for admission registration and maintains files. The Admission/Insurance Clerk is also responsible for verifying benefits, payment rates and contractual affiliations for all inpatient accounts.    
  • Maintains files, charges and all referral and admissions
  • Helps to retrieve patient signatures on appropriate forms when necessary
  • Ensures that all patient insurance is verified prior to treatment
  • Aides in the Admission and Discharge process of all patients, etc.

Position Requirements

  • Licensed Vocational Nurse, graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Must maintain credentials with Texas Board of Nursing
  • Experience in related healthcare field (i.e. insurance verification, medical terminology)
  • Previous experience with third party reimbursement, billing, liaison, etc.
  • Good communication skills
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel)
